I’m in Hong Kong. The drive over from the airport—gorgeous. Hong Kong is a small island or a small nation, a small country that’s on the southern tip, I would say, of China and where the area is that Hong Kong occupies, the island that it occupies, it’s apparently very sought-after real estate. I was trying to get an Airbnb here, and it was so difficult to try to find something. A lot of the prices that I was seeing seemed a little bit unreasonable.

Some of the places you’re paying, oh my gosh, you’re paying $80, $90 a night for a place. So you do have to really make sure that you want to be here. For me, because it was so expensive, I didn’t plan on being here for too long. It’s just going to be a few days and when those few days are over, I’ll get my butt going. Right now, I’m really liking what I see. I spent the day, my last day in Taiwan, taking it easy, relaxing because the flight was earlier in the morning, so I had to get up; make sure I get my stuff packed all and organized right away, and I took the train actually to the airport.

I had to check out a little bit earlier so I can get to the train and then by the time I got on the plane, I was tired. Then, when I got there, I saw a beautiful, beautiful vista. When you land at the airport, the airport is on the edge of the city, the country, everything.

You’re landing in the water, basically. But it’s not like Jamaica where it’s a beach, it’s just you’re landing close to the edge of the water. Then for me, I took a bus because the bus would have led directly into where I was going to, which is Wan Chai. As I discovered, you go into the Hong Kong main island, and then you come back off over into the another island where I’m staying at. And that area is really quite interesting because if you look at it, when I went for that, when I went for a walk, I really didn’t see too much other than businesses that were cafés. I saw like a lot of restaurants and that’s really what the neighborhood was.

I want to see more of Hong Kong. Hong Kong, it’s a very condensed space even from the little bit of exploring that I did and even trying to get from where the airport is to my Airbnb, it was difficult. Sometimes you can get that guidance because they know that other tourists that come, they may also have difficulty finding the place so she gave me the heads-up, and she actually came by a half an hour after that I got into the place, and you know said yeah I could have, I’m sorry I couldn’t meet you, I was held up with something, but she knew explained around the apartment and the apartment are a little bit smaller than I expected because the apartment that or the way that I was thinking when you describe something with a balcony, and you describe other things about a space, you wouldn’t think they’d be condensing it into such a small space but —they do.

After you’ve entered through this main door, this is where you can go to your specific room and this is what I’m in essence renting from or getting from the Airbnb, a room, because there are general things in this general area as well like there was a washing machine, there was a washing, there’s a washing machine in the apartment too, but there was a washing machine out there, there was, there were, what did I see out there? I’m going to see if I can remember next time, my journal, I’ll try to remember to tell you. Anyway, the space is really a room so you come out of the general area and you get the key code, or you get the key to enter your room and in your room that’s where you have your bed, you have everything, in there—there’s a refrigerator, so outside on my balcony I have a table and a washing machine and a little sink to I guess wash up anything that I need to and the mop is out there too. It’s just so interesting but there’s a view, there’s a view, like if I come to the edge of it and look over I actually can see a little bit of the Hong Kong streets down there so it’s not a complete loss, but it’s a little bit, a lot of it smaller than I would have thought, like even the bed, I don’t think it’s a full-size bed or a queen-size bed, I think it’s like a full-size bed, and it’s hard, it’s hard, but that’s okay, it’s a part of the adventure of being a nomad.

I want to leave you with the vistas of Hong Kong and talk to you soon.
